Great Bend–A 30-year old Great Bend man was killed in an accident Monday in Barton County.

Kansas Highway Patrol reported Brandon H. Stein died when his 2007 Escalade struck the trailer of 2009 Peterbuilt driven by 54-year old Michael D. Donovan of Larned.

The semi was stopped in the eastbound lane of US Highway 56 seven miles west of Great Bend. It was straddling the fog line due to visibility being reduced by blowing dirt and other accidents.

Stein was transported to St. Rose Ambulatory and Surgery Center in Great Bend where he was pronounced dead. The Highway Patrol reported that he was not wearing a seat belt.

Donovan suffered a possible injury. The KHP report did not indicate whether he was transported for treatment. Donovan was also not wearing a seat belt.
