The 1st Infantry Division Reunion will Return to Kansas In 2017

Each year the Society of the 1st Infantry Division holds a reunion and in 2017, the 1st Infantry Division’s 100th anniversary, the reunion will return to Kansas.

CSM (Ret) Buddy Wallace, Executive Director of the Society made thatbig red one announcement Thursday morning during the monthly Military Affairs Council Breakfast.

“We’re going to be holding our 100th year anniversary right here in Kansas, but were not yet sure where. We’ve tried so hard to get it into this area but about 1,000 people show up,” Wallace said.

Finding a location near Fort Riley that can hold that many people has been difficult Wallace said. He explained that it will more than likely be in either Topeka or Kansas City.

“A lot of our members are in their upper 90’s and getting them all the way from KCI out to here and back with the schedule is kind of hard, so it’s looking like Kansas City right now.”

Wallace said that they are looking for a way to bring the reunion back to Kansas every four to five years to be close to the 1st Infantry Division Headquarters.
