Mike Ryan will serve as the mayor of Junction City for the next 12 months.

He was elected to the post by his fellow City Commissioners Tuesday night on a 5-0 vote.

Ryan called it humbling. “Kind of shocked.”  Ryan noted he was proud to serve the city. “Junction City’s been my home.”

Ryan is a retired Junction City firefighter and former Junction City Fire Chief. He originally began work for the City in 1974.

Mick McCallister will serve as vice-mayor for the coming year.
