Junction City Manager Gerald Smith outlined a series of recommendations this week to help the City address its massive debt load and infrastructure needs.
They range from proposals for business and multi-family preservation licensing programs to the restructuring of the Economic Development Commission process.
City Commissioner Jim Sands noted there were lots of options, and you do not make a decision like that quickly. “It’s going to take time to figure out which courses of action will work. We may adopt and accept one or two, we may adopt or accept none, we may adopt all of them. But we’re gong to have to figure out the best course of action to get us forward, to get us out of debt, and to move us forward without pointing fingers. ”
Sands told an audience attending the State of the City address everyone will get through the situation together. He noted the information prepared by the City Manager was not easy and took five months to put it together. ” But it was worth listening to, and is worth for you to hear it.”
The City Commission has not taken any action at this point on the recommendations from the City Manager.
