Dr. Corbin Witt will become the next Superintendent of Schools in Geary USD 475.

Witt, 48, briefly attended the District’s Administrative Council meeting, and then held a news conference at the Devin Center Wednesday.
He made it clear he is excited to work in USD 475 and live in the community. “Excited to be here, and we know that the first thing we’re going need to do is build relationships.”
Witt added, ” Relationships and making sure that you build the trust with the community, and that they understand the honesty, integrity, and all the things that people want for the leaders of their school district are in place, and that you have the best interests of the district, and their students, and the community at heart. I can guarantee you that is where my heart is, and I want to definitely come in and work with this community to meet the needs of the community, and provide a great educational system for the students and move our district forward.”
Witt will begin work in the USD 475 July 1. He is currently the Executive Director of School Improvement for the Salina school district.
He wants to be out in the classrooms and the community. ” I hope to be out in the classrooms meeting teachers, working with administrators, out in the community at community events, all those types of things.”
During the job interview process Witt was given a tour of District facilities. He was asked about some of things he saw. “It was obvious to me the focus on student achievement in this district. The schools we were able to tour were incredible schools. This community has put a lot of community resources into making sure they have quality schools, and that’s very evident. I want to make sure that we take care of those schools, and we continue to provide that leadership that they understand we’re good stewards for what they’re doing.”
On serving military families the new Superintendent said it’s necessary to ensure those students have the support they need. “The relationship with Fort Riley is a very big strength for this district. ” He added he looks forward to that and wants to continue to build on it.
Witt was accompanied on his visit to Junction City by his wife Lori. They have two daughters.
