Coming together as a region and sharing resources is the purpose of the Flint Hills Regional Council.
William ‘Bill’ Clark, FHRC Executive Director, gave an update on what the
FHRC is and what they do Thursday morning at the Military Affairs Council Breakfast. He explained that the council is made up of six counties and 16 municipalities that have joined together to focus on working together as a region.
“When you look at the concept of regionalism, it really comes down to the idea of partnership and collaboration,” Clark said. “It’s about doing more together than can be done yourself, it’s about sharing resources, it’s about becoming more efficient and more effective by partnering.”
The Regional Council acts as the fiscal agent for Metropolitan Planning Organization, Economic Development District and the Regional Transit Authority. They also oversee the Frontiers Project.
Next months MAC Breakfast will be held at the Riley Conference Center on Fort Riley, April 24th. CSM (Ret) Buddy Wallace, Executive Director of the Society of the First Infantry Division, will be the guest speaker.
