A number of fires were reported in Geary County Wednesday afternoon.

One fire that was reported on Erickson Road, south east of Junction City, had a house along with a Morton building and small shed in jeopardy. As of 4:00 p.m. those buildings were no longer in jeopardy according to Sheriff Tony Wolf .
“All of those structures are safe and we’ve just contained the fire to the hay bales that are out there now,” Wolf said.
Approximately 100 large round hay bales were on fire. No injuries or structure damage has been reported.
Wolf confirmed the property belongs to George Erichsen, and the house was the Alvina Erichsen house.
There was a second fire reported along Ava Road, west of Milford lake. Wolf explained it was a large grass fire that was allowed to move into the hunting and fishing area west of Milford lake, but again there were no injuries or structure damage.
