Construction activity is visible at Sixth and Jackson in Junction City.

Dave Yearout, Zoning Administrator, says the three houses that were located at that property have been razed, and the lots cleared.
“Site prep work going on right now. There will be a new Family Dollar store constructed at that location,” Yearout said. “The overall building size I think is 8,400 sq. ft. and the rest of that will be a parking lot. A new drive way will come out on Sixth Street, clear to the west end of that property, so it will be close to the Long John Silvers property. On Jackson access will come in off the Alley.”
That project is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
There has also been some activity for a proposed new Dollar General store.
“It’s where the former Goodyear Tire store is, immediately west of Intrust
Bank on Sixth Street at Garfield. The old tire building will be razed and a new Dollar General store will be built,” Yearout said.
Dollar General is currently in a building just west of that location. They will remain in that building until the new store is complete and then they will make the transition.
The plat on that project has not yet been finalized until storm drainage issues are dealt with.
