The Geary County Commission approved the match to a KDHE Grant that provides assistance to young women through the Geary County Health Department.

Larry Hicks, Commission Chair, explained that the grant provides assistance to women 21 years of age and older with gaining education in both stabilizing their family and understanding the importance of them getting education.

“This particular grant provides that assistance to these young women and puts them in a position to secure their G.E.D., and also allows them the chance be able to secure some additional support for them in terms of being able to get job opportunities,” Hicks said.

Geary County’s match to the grant is $36,000 dollars with KDHE providing the other $36,000.
