In May of 2013 more than 100 people were arrested in the Adabag drug raids in Junction City and Manhattan.
Geary County Attorney Steve Opat said authorities are still dealing with those cases. “the aftermath of Adabag is that there are other people trying to fill the void left by the people that have been indicted in federal court, and the people that are being prosecuted in Geary County District Court.”
Opat added prosecutors still have what he termed “80 books” in the case that they have not been able to yet deal with.
JCPost.com asked the County Attorney if he is seeking the drug traffic pick back up. “Crime happens every day, no matter who you take off the street, or how many you take off the street. crime goes on.” Opat added there will always be people trying to fill the void because the “money is so big.” He also stated, ” I hate to say it, but there are only so many resources that we have available to combat this kind of crime, and it’s a 24-7 deal.”
