Chapman boys head basketball coach Tony Ingram, has resigned under pressure. He will leave the
post after six years in the job.
Ingram confirmed he is leaving the program during an interview for KJCK AM, The Talk of JC’s Sports Saturday show. When asked about summer plans for the basketball program Ingram stated he would not be making those plans. “Not a me thing anymore. I wish them the best of luck. I think they’re going to be a good team here in a couple of years. ”
When asked what had happened, Ingram responded, “I’m resigning my position. Unfortunately it’s not necessarily something I wanted, but it is what it is at this point. And we’re having the opportunity to look elsewhere. I wish the boys the best of luck.”
The season ended for Chapman in the first round of the Class 4A Substate Tournament Friday night with a 39-32 loss to Clay Center. Chapman struggled to a 2-19 record this season. Over the past six years their season records had ranged from 2-19 to 11-11.
Ingram stated his family appreciated those who have supported him through the six years, saying it had been a good run. He praised the players he coached over the years, calling them a “great group of young men.”
