OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – It took overtime for Kansas to oust in-state rival Kansas State in the opening round of the Big 12 women’s basketball tournament. Chelsea Gardner scored 29 points, including six in overtime. The Jayhawks won 87-84. 

Kansas advanced in the tournament to play top seeded Baylor on Saturday. In other first round action in the tournament on Friday TCU defeated Texas Tech. TCU will meet West Virginia in the second round. Other games in the tournament on Saturday find Oklahoma State against Iowa State and Oklahoma matching up against Texas.
