FORT RILEY, Kan. – Leaders and Soldiers from three 1st Infantry Division brigades and the division headquarters will conduct integrated and simultaneous live, virtual and constructive training March 3-7 at various locations on post.
The training, the first of its kind held at Fort Riley, will validate new and innovative technology that allows the three independent Army training systems to work together.
Commanders looking at the screen of their computerized mission command system can now see and lead Soldiers conducting live training using high-tech laser tag and tracking systems and/or conducting virtual training using tank or helicopter simulators.
Through the integration of the systems, which will now allow Soldiers operating tank and helicopter simulators to see each other in a virtual word, the Army and Fort Riley will improve training. They will also save money and time through the replication of actual Soldiers, which will appear as virtual icons to a commander on his or her computer screen, and the reduction of actual vehicle maintenance and fuel costs.
