1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Kidnapping are the charges that have been filed in Geary County District against three defendants in connection with the death of Amanda Clemons, 24. Her body was found at a remote rural location in southwest Geary County on Feb. 12.

Geary County Attorney Steve Opat confirmed the  filing of the formal charges in the case against Larry Lamathis Anderson, 25, Manhattan, Marryssa Monyque Middleton, 22, Colorado, and Drexel Alexander Woody, 23, Fort Riley.

Opat said a status hearing for the defendants is scheduled Thursday ( Feb. 20 ) in District Court. “A status hearing in which counsel will be confirmed or otherwise appointed, bonds will be confirmed, and new hearings will be set.”

Police sought the public’s assistance in locating Clemons on Feb. 10 after receiving information Clemons had last been seen leaving the Budget Host Hotel, room 112, on South Washington St. in Junction City. She had been observed being placed in a vehicle that was occupied by four people.   Her body was discovered two days later.

An autopsy was done. Police Chief Tim Brown said the cause of death was determined to be “sharp force injury.” The case was ruled a homicide.
