Former Garrison Commander at Fort Riley and current CEO of the Flint Hills Regional Council, William ‘Bill’ Clark, was named Wednesday as the new Director of Business Operations at Geary USD 475.

Clark told JCpost.com that he is excited and grateful to be able to join the school district in which his children were educated in.

“My kids were educated in 475. I have a grandson inside 475 right now, so I think it’s just important to make sure the school district is going in the right direction it is right now and keep going forward,” Clark said.

Much of what Clark did while he was the Garrison Commander will correlate to his position with the school district.

“As the Director of Business Operations, once again I will be responsible for infrastructure, transportation, logistics, accounts payable many of the same similar functions that I did at Fort Riley.”

Clark is the Executive Director of the Flint Hills Regional Council and will continue with that organization in a part time role.

He explained that balancing the two jobs will be difficult but the regional council staff will step up and take over a lot of the day to day aspects of his job as the Executive Director,” I will really spend a lot of my time focusing more on the budgetary aspect, the business side, and looking to the future.”

Pending approval from the Board of Education his start date with the school district is tentatively scheduled for March 10th.
