During this years annual Friends of Scouting Kickoff Breakfast the Late Lt. Gen. Richard Seitz was awarded the good scout award.

Accepting the award in his honor was his son, Rick Seitz, and nephew, John Seitz.

Seitz was a big supporter of the scouts his son explained, “Scouting and it’s leadership development program for all of the youth in the local Coronado Council area, the Junction City area and Salina. He thought it was one of the most important tools that the country has to develop young leaders.”

Duane Blythe, Chairman of Friends of Scouting, explained that Seitz’s leadership and direction was greatly appreciated by the local Boy Scouts and Coronado Council.

“We are so pleased to recognize someone who truly embodies the high ideals of selfless service that scouting seeks to instill in young people,” Blythe said.

Seitz passed away on June 8th, 2013, in Junction City.

“It’s a great legacy that he leaves and I’m only sorry that he’s not here to witness it,” Rick said.
