Geary County Sheriff Tony Wolf said the roads in the county are looking better all the time. But he did say Wednesday morning because of the cold the salt on the roadways was not working.

As the day becomes a bit warmer there will be some melting, but will then freeze up again. Wolf said that could present another problem with black ice issues.  He had some concern about that developing in the late afternoon and early evening hours. “Yeah, that’s what bothers me, especially out on the areas of the Interstate where there is a little bit of snow there, and it does melt out onto the roadway. And as the day goes on that can freeze back up as it gets colder this evening, then you have a situation where you have black ice. And that’s a very scary situation to come across when you’re driving down the road.”
