Geary County has been placed in a Winter Storm Warning beginning at midnight ( Monday ) and
continuing until 6 a.m. on Wednesday. It replaces an earlier Winter Storm Watch that had been issued.
The Winter Storm Warning also includes other area counties: Riley, Clay, Dickinson, Morris, and Wabaunsee plus several other counties in north central and northeast Kansas.
According to the National Weather Service total snow accumulations should range from 6 to 10 inches, with up to 12 inches possible. Northeast winds around 10 mph Monday night will increase with gusts to around 25 mph by late Tuesday. North winds will increase further with gusts to 35 mph expected Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning, with widespread blowing snow.
