Joan Wagnon, Chair of the Kansas Democratic Party, was the guest speaker Thursday night during the Geary County Women’s Kansas Day Dinner.

She made her message clear Thursday night, “We need to find a new Governor.”

Wagnon explained that she spent most of Thursday working to get a project of her’s underway, a grass root effort to defeat Republican Governor Sam Brownback in November’s general election.

She explained that while working on her project and talking with some of her friends it seemed everybody had a different perspective but all came back to one thing.

“The fact that Sam Brownback is putting policies in place that are going to retard the development of this state more years than we can count.”

She further explained that trying to unravel what Brownback has done will take years.

Some of those policies that Wagnon presented included dismembering social services, decreased school funding and a failed tax plan.

 

In September of last year Democrat Paul Davis, Kansas House minority leader and Lawrence attorney, announced his plans to enter the 2014 Kansas Governor race to challenge Brownback.

“I think Paul Davis is a great candidate and we’re going to everything we can to get him elected,” Wagnon told JCpost.com.
