Chamber of Commerce Moving Forward on Feasibility Study

The Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors have voted to authorize a feasibility study ( economic development plan ) for a proposed capital campaign in the community.

Chamber CEO Tom Weigand said Jerry Hinson ( ceo of Opportunity Funding LLC, and RDA ), will do a feasibility study that will contact community businesses to talk about a capital campaign to raise funds for economic development. “Some of the questions would be what would they like to see the use of the money for.”

Weigand confirmed Hinson helped Pottawatomie County and Manhattan in sucessful capital campaigns to raise funds to support their economic development efforts.

Hinson told JCPost.com the feasibility study would be completed in about 45 business days.

Hinson said existing business is crucial in today’s climate. “What are we doing with our existing business? There’s a lot of people, the glitz and glamour is to recruit new business. ” He added once they meet with businesses there will be questions on about a half dozen topic areas. “Existing business programs, how do we keep and grow what we’ve got.  It may be how do we market this area? Do we have the available shovel ready sites should new business want to come, or existing businesses  to expand?”  He said those surveyed will also be asked if they would participate in this effort, and what would you change.
