A proposed one percent sales tax extension in Grandview Plaza received approval of voters in that city on Tuesday.

According to Geary County Clerk Rebecca Bossemeyer 31 people cast yes votes, and 9 voted no. The extension is effective from June 30, 2014 through June 30, 2019.

There was one provisional ballot, which will be reviewed when the Geary County Commission canvasses the votes on Monday. That provisional ballot will not impact the outcome of the election.

Eight percent of the 500 registered voters in Grandview Plaza cast ballots in the election on Tuesday.

Funds from the sales tax can be used for street improvements, and other projects as determined by the Grandview Plaza City Council.
