It’s time to send letters pro or con on the casino issue for Geary County.
Junction City Commissioner Jim Sands said this week State Representative Allan Rothlisberg is needing support. Rothlisberg is seeking a future hearing before the Kansas House and Federal and State Affairs Committee on his proposal to have Geary County designated as the future site for a state owned casino.
Sands said it’s time to write letters either pro or con on the casino topic. “So if we want this in our area we need to show support. He can’t be down there by himself.” It is still to be determined whether there will be hearing, but February is considered the most likely time.
Sands said the casino would provide Junction City with a financial boost, “a little assistance with income from taxes from other people’s money rather than just our own.” He said at this time Junction City has to get it out there and indicate this city wants to be part of the casino industry.
