Geary County Attorney Steve Opat has confirmed a Felony Theft charge against former Junction City – Geary County Animal Shelter Director Lisa Junghans has been dismissed without prejudice. That means the case could possibly be refiled at a later time.
Opat confirmed there will be further investigation, and he expected the case to be refiled. He had no comment when asked if there would be additional charges.
Junghans resigned unexpectedly from the Animal Shelter job on July 9.
Before the dismissal of the Felony Theft count she had been charged in the alleged theft of approximately $40,000 from the Animal Shelter.
