Geary, Riley, Clay,Pottatatomie, Dickinson, Morris, and Wabaunsee Counties are among east central Kansas counties in a placed in a winter weather advisory by the National Weather
Service until 9 a.m. Sunday. Many other eastern Kansas counties are in the advisory.
Snowfall on Saturday night and early Sunday morning is expected to be at its peak intensity until 2 a.m. and tape off by 6 a.m. Sunday.
Accumulations of one to two inches with locally higher amounts of snow are possible. The snow is likely to drift because of the north winds. Snow covered roads are likely to make travel more difficult, and reduced visibilities are possible from blowing snow.
Also….the National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning for numerous eastern Kansas Counties. Clay, Riley, Pottawatomie, Geary, Dickinson, Wabaunsee, and Morris are some of the counties included.
The wind chill warning will run from 6 p.m. sunday to noon on Monday. Wind chill values may reach as low as -25 to -32 Sunday night through Monday morning. It will be dangerous to be outdoors for any period of time. Prolonged exposure to those conditions may result in frostbite and could lead to hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.
