Geary County Sheriff’s Department Reports Three Accidents

badge formThe Geary County Sheriff’s Department worked three accidents between 4:40 and 5:41 p.m. during the snow on Wednesday.

One involved minor injuries.

The S-O reported deputies responded to Interstate 70 milepost 299 westbound for a two vehicle injury accident. Justin D. Thurlow of Wakefield was westbound in a Dodge Ram 1500 when a Pontiac Trans Am driven by Jimmy D. Ward of Solomon lost control of his vehicle while traveling eastbound. The Trans Am went through the median and into the oncoming traffic, striking Thurlow’s vehicle head-on. The front seat passenger in Thurlow’s vehicle was transported to the Geary Community Hospital emergency room with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Two other  accidents occurred as vehicles tried to merge from the K-18 Bypass onto I-70 at milepost 303.  The Sheriff’s Department said in one, Raymond Kamila of Ft. Carson, Colorado was southbound on the K-18 bypass attempting to merge onto the on-ramp to I-70 when his vehicle slid on the snow packed roadway through the guard rail and over an embankment. There were no injuries.

In the other accident George D. Voss of Bearden, Arkansas was southbound in a Dodge Charger on the K-18 Bypass when he attempted to merge onto the on-ramp onto I-70. The vehicle slid on the snow packed roadway into a guard rail that had already been struck. There were no injuries.
