After a thorough investigation the Grandview Plaza Police Department has identified the woman found dead early Sunday morning as Ellena Allen, 42, of Grandview Plaza.

Allen was discovered in the 200 block of West Grandview Drive near the bleachers of the city park at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

Shawn Peirano, Grandview Plaza Police Chief, confirmed that foul play has been ruled out.

“After the autopsy was preformed today (Monday) it’s believed that she died from hypothermia based on the evidence available to the Grandview Plaza Police Department at this time,” Peirano said.

From the investigation it is believed that Allen left a residence located within the city limits of Grandview Plaza on foot between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Saturday night.

Multiple agencies assisted the Grandview Plaza Police Deparment with the investigation including the Geary County Sheriff’s Office, Geary County Fire/EMS, Kansas Bureau of Investigations, Geary County Coroner’s Office and the Junction City Police Department.
