A helicopter crash in Afghanistan Monday claimed the life of six soldiers and injured one more.
U.S. Senator Jerry Moran’s office confirmed Thursday that five of the six killed
were from Fort Riley.
Moran released the following statement, “Americans will be forever indebted to these brave soldiers who laid down their lives for our country. As we pay tribute to their service and sacrifice, we are reminded that freedom is not free. I ask all Kansans to join me in remembering their families, friends and the Ft. Riley community in our thoughts and prayers.”
Fort Riley officials do expect a press release on this matter sometime Thursday afternoon. No other information was made available.
