Construction has begun on a two-phase terminal expansion project at the Manhattan Regional Airport.

Airport Director Peter Van Kuren said the first phase will add 20,000 square feet.
Phase one will be completed in September of next year, and when federal money becomes available for Phase Two it is scheduled for completion by the summer of 2015.
When the entire project is complete the terminal will increase in size from its current 12,500 square foot size to 42,000 square feet. There will also be parking lot expansion and parking stall expansion up to a total of nearly 400 stalls.
