Fire burned approximately 30-35 acres of grassland west of Junction City on Tuesday afternoon.

Garry Berges, Rural Fire Chief,  said a controlled burn got out of control just north of the Munson Road – Rucker Road area. “We were fighting it for about an hour and 15-minutes before we got it under control. There’s probably 30, 35 acres of grassland and trees that burned. ”

Berges reported the property is owned by Phyllis Kotoyantz.

The Rural Fire Department had about 12 firefighters on the scene about 2:30 p.m. Four fire trucks were used to battle the blaze.
