Geary County has been chosen to receive $5,488 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. 

United Way of Junction City – Geary County Executive Director Aileen Cray said the selection was made by a National Board chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.

A local board comprised of representatives ranging from a member of the Geary County Commission to American Red Cross will determine how the funds awarded to Geary County will be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area.

Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must contact Aileen Cray at United Way for an application. The deadline for applications to be received is Monday, Dec. 30.
