Landes Says Talks Coming Soon on Casino Possibility

Junction City Commissioner Pat Landes said Monday there will be talks soon between City, Fort junction city symbolRiley, and Flint Hills Regional Council officials on whether they would sign off on a casino.

There is a push beginning to try and have Geary County designated as the future site for a state-owned casino.  “Well I think just kind of have an understanding with the Fort and the leadership out there, and what their expectations are. Just have a general discussion about the casino topic…kind of see where they are.”

The commissioner acknowledged  he knew the Fort Riley leaders’ bosses are in Washington D.C.

“You know we’re all neighbors here and we need to make sure we get along, and we have open discussion about things, and if there’s a general concern we want to know about it.”

The conversation to try and have Geary County Designated as the future site for a state-owned casino has been increasing in Junction City. State Representative Allan Rothlisberg is pushing legislation that accomplish that mission, but it would need approval by the House, Senate, and Governor.
