The Kansas Highway Patrol reported two people were transported to Mercy Hospital in Manhattan following seperate accidents Thursday on I-70 in Riley County.

In the first accident Vicki Lynn Patton-Deunk, 56,  Effingham, Illinois was taken to the hospital after her westbound Ford passenger vehicle lost control while she was trying to slow down on an icy bridge. The vehicle entered the north ditch and struck a vehicle that was already disabled.

In a second accident Manuel Castellanos, 37, Junction City was transported to the hospital. He was driving a Nissian utility vehicle westbound on the interstate and for an unknown reason lost control and entered the median. The vehicle then rolled an unknown number of times, coming to rest on its wheels on the inside shoulder of the eastbound lanes.
