The 2013 Extension Council Appreciation Award in Geary County has been presented to the Brian and Jacqui Shane family.

They are part of a three-generation Four-H family.

Brian Shane said he has helped with the livestock weigh-in at the fair and served as a leader of clubs for years. He was in Four-H as a youth. “My mother, my dad were in Four-H, thought it was a great organization.”

Jacqui Shane was in Four-H, and felt participating in that organization has also been good her children. “Every teacher has always said they can always tell that our kids are in Four-H because they have confidence, and they’re unable to stand up in front of others and express themselves.”

The Extension Council Appreciation Award was presented Thursday evening during the annual Extension Council meeting at Stacy’s Restaurant in Grandview Plaza.
