The big rain in August could result in some federal funding reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for Geary County.

Geary County Commission Chair Ben Bennett addressed the flood damage issue following a meeting with the County’s public works Director Dennis Cox. “He said that we have about $90,000 in claims that we can make. We don’t know how much FEMA’s going to give us. But they’re going to start the work on that this week.

Bennett noted the action follows an earlier flood disaster declaration that included Geary County.
