County officials discussed a number of ideas during a security work session Tuesday.
According to Ben Bennett, Geary County Commission Chairman, they’re trying to develop a plan for
security needed in the wake of the conceal carry legislation approved earlier this year.
“Tried to look at what the options were. I think we’re probably leaning towards coming up with a solid plan for the courthouse and to secure the safety and well being for everybody who has business to do in a courthouse,” Bennett said.
He went on to say that they will take a hard look at the other buildings, but with the resources available he expects the county to proceed on the courthouse.
A plan will be written by a subcommittee, it will be presented to the County Attorney for legal review, and there will then probably be a proposal from the subcommittee to the County Commission for construction.
