Fort Riley officials say the natural vegetation fire on post Sunday was contained by 9:30 p.m. after being reported just before noon.
The blaze extended from a point north of Ogden back several miles to the west. There were
no injuries reported.
Fort Riley officials noted due tot he consistently gusty winds the Fort Riley Fire Department received help from Geary and Riley counties, plus the Kansas Forestry Service under existing mutual aid agreements.
All training was stopped on post from five to eleven p.m. and the use of all pyrotechnics throughout all training and maneuver areas was banned from noon Sunday until early Monday morning.
The Army confirms no structures were damaged in the blaze.
