Manhattan’s Henry Bieber returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, but it was the
Derby Panthers who came out on top in their Class 6A football playoff game Friday night.
After the Indians scored first at Bishop Stadium the Panthers would go on to score 48 consecutive points enroute to a 55-20 victory over Manhattan. The Indians did score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter before Derby tacked on one last touchdown.
Manhattan finished the season with a final record of 8-3, while Derby is now 10-1.
In other 6A playoff action Garden City defeated Wichita Heights 35-28, Olathe North downed Lawrence Free State 22-18, and Shawnee Mission East defeated Olathe East 20-13.
In Class 4A Hayden of the Centennial League fell to Buhler 27-18.
