East Chestnut Street Re-Opened Following Gas Leak

A gas leak caused by a contractor boring underground caused East Chestnut Street in Junction City to be closed for a short period of time. gas leak

Garry Berges, Geary County Emergency Management Director, confirmed that the roadway’s that had been closed have been re-opened. Berges said that Kansas Gas Service is currently working on getting to the location of the leak, which is under some concrete.”They’ll make repairs there and they’ll power back up the line in that area and go around and relight all of the pilot lights in the business’s within that area.”

Berges said that the area primarily effected is, “From Goody’s around over to the Courtyard by Marriot and back over towards Meritrust.” On the South side of East Chustnut Street

The business’s on the North side of East Chestnut are not affected and remain open.
