The Kansas State Wildcats picked up their first win of the season Wednesday night 71-63 over Oral Roberts.
The Wildcats got off to a sluggish start finding themselves behind 16-4 with 11:00 minutes to play in
the first half. That’s when Freshman Marcus Foster turned up the heat and led the Wildcats on a solo 10-1 run to get back within three.
“He got a layup down, a 3-pointer down, and then he got going,” Head Coach Bruce Weber said following the game. “He is a good player and there is no doubt about it.”
Weber said that they’re going to need Foster to score this season, “Obviously without Rodney McGruder and some of the other guys from last year, he is going to have to pick up the pace and help us score the basketball.”
Foster finished the game with a team leading 25 points and added three assists. The last time a freshman scored 25 points in a game was Michael Beasley vs. Texas A&M on March 14th, 2008 in the Big XII Tournament at the Sprint Center.
K-State will next host Long Beach State on Sunday before heading to Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Tournament on Monday.
