Kansas State jumped out to a 40-19 halftime lead and never trailed enroute to an 85-53 season opening basketball win over Tennessee State at Bramlage Coliseum Friday evening.

Kansas State got 16 points and seven rebounds from Leticia Romero, 15 points and five rebounds from Haley Texada, and ten rebounds plus five points from Breanna Lewis.

The Wildcats shot 52.5% from the field, 47.4% from three-point range, and hit 14 of 21 or 66.7% of their free throws.

Kansas State outscored Tennessee State 38-22 in the paint and 19-8 on fast break points.
