The U.S. Senate has confirmed the nomination of Major General William C. Mayville Jr. to the rank of lieutenant general, and assignment as Director for Operations, J-3, Joint Staff, Washington D.C.

Mayville is a former commanding general for the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley. He is currently serving as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, United States Army in Washington D.C.
