Accident Claims Life of Manhattan Woman

The Kansas Highway Patrol has reported that a 35-year old Manhattan woman has died after being struck by a vehicle 17 miles east of Junction City along I-70.khp little apple

The accident on Sunday evening claimed the life of 35-year old Dale Colleen Williams, Manhattan.   Williams was a passenger in a Hyundai Elantra driven by Catherine Wood, 43, Manhattan, which was westbound on the interstate and struck a deer. The Hyundai became disabled in the westbound lane, and both Wood and Williams got out of the vehicle.

KHP reported a short time later a Ford Taurus driven by Randy Jost, 57, Ottawa struck the disabled car in the lane of travel, and then Williams was hit by the disabled vehicle in which she had been riding.   Williams was taken to Manhattan Mercy Regional Hospital but KHP said she was a fatality victim.

Jost and Wood were both taken to Manhattan Mercy Regional Hospital.  The accidents were reported about 8:45 p.m. Sunday.
