The Junction City-Geary County United Way held it’s annual Day of Caring  Saturday in Junction City.

Ailleen Cray, United Way Executive Director, reported that 24 volunteers turned out and assistedunited way at 14 homes through out Junction City. ” Many of the households had a minimum of about two projects and many of them had three and sometimes four different things that they were asking the volunteers to do,” Cray said.

Some of the projects included cleaning gutters, washing windows, raking leaves and other basic yard clean up.

Cray said that the volunteers were split up into teams,”several teams would have one address but you might have three different projects going on simultaneously at that same address.”

She said that the 14 homes that they worked on is about the same from years past and that the number of volunteers was slightly down. “You never know whats going on and all you can do is pick a date and go with it and hope that you have good weather and that it’s a date that people can actually give you some of their time.”
