Two Vehicle Accident

Two people were transported to Geary Community Hospital following an injury accident Tuesday at the Old 40 – U.S. 77 intersection on the southwest edge of Junction City.khp

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol Jeffrey L. Black, 40, Junction City, and Darren C. Smith, 45, Abilene were taken to the hospital . They were riding in a Ford van which was hit in the rear end by a GMC truck driven by Joseph M. Brown, 34, of Junction City. A check with Geary Community Hospital revealed both Black and Smith were treated and released in good condition. KHP did not report any transport to a hospital for  Brown, but did say that he suffered a possible injury.

The Highway Patrol reported the Ford van was stopped at a stop sign on eastbound Old 40 waiting to make a left turn onto U.S. 77. The truck was eastbound on Old 40 approaching the van, Brown did not realize that the van carrying Black and Smith was stopped, and struck the van from behind.
