A 1998 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck belonging to Randall Cameron of rural Geary County was declared a total loss in a fire Monday afternoon. 
Garry Berges, rural fire chief, confirmed Cameron was not injured in the blaze. Berges said firefighters were called about 4:10 p.m. Monday to respond to the intersection of Lyons Creek Road and Beck Road about five miles southwest of Junction City. “Upon arrival the whole engine and cab area of the truck was on fire. Vehicle was considered a total loss, was put out by the Geary County Rural Fire Department.
Berges noted Cameron was the driver of the pickup. The blaze was caused by something in the engine area. “He lost power to the vehicle, coasted to a stop, and that’s when he noticed the fire was in the engine area.
Berges placed the damage estimate at approximately $6,000. The vehicle was insured.
