Seventy-six percent of the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce members responding to a survey favored having a casino in Junction City. Chamber CEO Tom Weigand confirms 169 responded to the survey.
On the next step, he said he thinks whether the Chamber really believes the Legislature would approve another casino being open in Kansas, and whether they would approve of it coming to Junction City. “And then also I think maybe more broad feedback from the citizens of this community of whether they want it or not. There’s certainly those who oppose it.”
Weigand expects the Chamber and EDC boards to study the issue some more, and for there to be discussions with legislators in Topeka.
