The annual Fall Apple Days Festival at Fort Riley is Saturday.
The Historical and Archaeological Society of Fort Riley prepared 2,100 apple pies for the festival
and will be selling them frozen, baked or by the slice.
The festival attracted more than 10,000 people last year and around that same amount is expected this year. Along with the pies other attractions will be set up including a treasure hunt with a tablet for the winning prize, vendor tent featuring various local vendors and an expo tent featuring information about activities at Fort Riley and in the local community.
New to the festival will be a shuttle to take attendees to and from parking as well as an internet cafe, mechanical bull, human sphere course and a tornado ride.
Admission and parking is free as well as all of the activities including all the rides, demonstrations and parking shuttle. Items sold in the food and vendor tents will have an associated cost. No pets or alcohol are allowed at the event.
