Two people were transported to Geary Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries from an accident Thursday afternoon on U.S. 77 near Interstate 70 on the south side of Junction City.

According to the Junction City Police Department Anita Webber of Hillsboro and Cody Smecka of Lawrence were taken to the hospital.

Police reported that Webber was northbound on 77 when she tried to turn right onto an I-70 exit ramp. She tried to back out but her vehicle and the one driven by Smecka collided. Smecka had been northbound on 77, and had tried to make an evasive move before the accident. Smecka’s vehicle overturned into a ditch.

A passenger in the vehicle driven by Anita Webber, Virgil Webber, was not injured. Both vehicles were totaled.
