Volunteers interested in helping with hands-on are encouraged to contact United Way to sign up.

Currently United Way is working to identify local elderly and disabled individuals that could use some assistance with basic yard clean-up, cleaning windows, trimming shrubs, and other jobs that they can no longer do on their own. “A number of individuals have already signed up and are really excited about getting some help,” said Ailleen Cray, Executive Director of United Way. “Now we need the workers to help make this event happen.”

To sign up contact the United Way office at 238-2117 by Tuesday Oct. 15. All volunteers will be required to sign a release form and provide a listing of the types of chores that they are willing to do. Depending on the task assigned, volunteers will be asked to bring products or equipment to help with their chore, such as a weed-wacker, window cleaner, and paper towels, a step ladder, lawn mower, or rake.
