Employees of Geary County were notified that the Health Insurance and Benefits offered through the County have been considered by the Federal Government to be affordable.

Ben Bennett, Geary County Commission Chair, said Monday that those employees who are eligible to receive health insurance and benefits should have been notified in their end of the month statement.

“To report to them that our employee benefits, medical benefits, are considered by the Federal Government to be affordable. They are standardized according to the standardized information passed out by the health department,” Bennett said.

Bennett went on to say that the employees are free to shop for other insurance as well. “They can still go out and shop for insurance if they want to and will be provided whatever is available but we’ve got a pretty good package here.”
